Don Asmussen VK4FA sends us this report about his activity in Australia.
QTH: Wurtulla , Australia ( near Brisbane 80km away to the South)
Family: all grown up. Joy (Don's wife) and I are retired. Now we are just Darby and Joan!
Job: Gone, finished with all that now retired, and living in the lap of luxury... I don't think!
Christian involvement: I belong to the Salvation Army Corps at Caloundra, just as an ordinary church-goer, not an office bearer. I've been an active Christian all my life, previously in the Methodist tradition?. I enjoy music and choir singing plus harmonica playing in the church band of late. If you know what a muso is, then I am one.
What do I like / hate about Wacral?: Not as much fellowship worldwide as I feel could be achieved as the means are there, but enthusiasm is in short supply. Maybe the common factor is the ageing of the members, and how do you combat that ?
Anything else I fancy ? Yes, I have a dream....... I can see a great future for WACRAL using PC programs like Echolink, Skype and Windows Live Messenger being used as a supplementary means of quickly contacting other WACRAL Members, for Christian fellowship, especially internationally.
It's not radio I know, but the Internet is here, and is another gift we can use now, surpassing the days of telegrams, phone calls, and letters, making the world very small. Christian Fellowship is the name of the game, so please, if you are PC literate, and I think most of you are, the world is at your feet for Christian contact. Never mind the sunspots or lack thereof, that will pass, we all know that....... 501 from VK-land.
